Do you ever realize that a good movie, drama or even a musical video is established upon a good script? Here we outline a few points that are essential to us during the process of script writing.
1. Story-line
A recognizable story-line is the key to produce a fascinating script. The first thing before you start your writing is to identify the theme of the story. Figure out what messages and values that you wish to convey through the story. A story-line without its soul would never be complete.
Personalize your story. If it is assembled upon a true story, do not hesitate to add appropriate yet creative adaptations to outline your story. Make the story uniquely yours.
2. Setting
The setting of background is just as important as the setting of roles and scenes. The relationship between one role and another has to lead the development of the story. Prioritize on the setting of the personality of the characters. A behaviorally and psychologically interesting role would draw the attention of readers and audiences.
Characters do not have to be complete at the beginning but their images could be gradually established throughout the plot.
3. Lines of Speech
You could establish a role via lines, as well as undermine the role. The ups and downs of the lines would eventually make the role more interesting.
When you start to write, do add abundant of humanized lines. In the case of writing a script for a theater play, gorgeous or fussy lines could be avoided. The addition of the features of humanity brings the script play near and dear to audiences' heart.
Based on the background of the characters you set earlier, do bear in mind that each of them possess a unique way of speaking. In order to shape the fullness of the characters, a screenwriter has to put himself in the shoe of the particular character. It is advisable for a screenwriter to speak along the recited lines. Basically, the lines are good enough if they are comfortable to be spoken out naturally.
4. Format
There is a specific format for theater play's script-writing, which is slightly different from scripts for other forms of performing. You could easily download a template or get a reference from the Internet. The script, however, is better to be presented in a simple, neat and clean form. Include only time, venue, character and plot. A screenwriter need not to be so into the play and thereafter, just leave the play of specific actions to the screenplay director.
5. Lastly, be patience and be dedicated in the words you are writing! The task of script-writing has never been easy. Cheers and have fun in writing!
